According to the 2025 IUCN Red List<\/a>, 1,313 bird species are considered threatened with extinction (i.e. in the categories of \u201cCritically Endangered\u201d, \u201cEndangered\u201d and \u201cVulnerable\u201d). This represents 11.9% of the total of 11,005 extant bird species in the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

An additional 935<\/span> species are considered \u201cNear Threatened\u201d and 5 are \u201cExtinct in the Wild\u201d, giving a total of 2,253 species that are priorities for conservation.<\/p>\n

We aim to create galleries for as many of the world’s 11,005 extant bird species as possible by:<\/p>\n

1) Creating Species Galleries<\/strong> enriched with available media including photographs, video, audioclips and factsheets.<\/i><\/p>\n

2) Conservation Status of Species<\/strong> will be marked CR (Critical), EN (Endangered), VU (Vulnerable), NT (Near Threatened) or LC (Least Concern).<\/p>\n

3) Publishing Articles<\/strong> when the conservation status of any of these bird species changes and new information becomes available.<\/p>\n
