I will not talk again about this magnificent animal, my point will be different, bear with me.

These photos were taken in a 37 hectare animal park in the oriental Pyrenees mountains at 1800 meters high where the animals live in semi freedom in natural surroundings.

It is neither a zoo with animals confined in restricted pens away from a natural environment nor a reserve.

The space dedicated to each species is important enough: taking pictures is not always easy, I saw wolves at about 250 meters, impossible to photograph.

I have nothing against zoos, reserves and parks – which allow people to discover the fauna – they can act to preserve species and even to reintroduce them into the wild when necessary… as long as they are properly administrated. But what I am getting at is my deep wish that animals won’t be exclusively seen in those places…

""

Time is running out, human pressure is colossal. Many associations with honourables intentions to begin with are occupying or buying territories, regulating, tagging, ringing birds and mammals and/or inserting microchips into their bodies (a reintroduced bear died from such an implant a few weeks ago in the Pyrenees…). Birds are constantly tracked & trapped at each migration by more and more so-called ecological associations around the planet. We soon won’t be able to see fish in the seas, only in large aquariums…

""

I have written at length about this already but the more we will protest against the loss of freedom and a controlled environment, the better chances for our future generations to see them live in free spaces and maybe keep our own freedom removed step by step…
