Puydarrieux is a large man-made lake in the Midi-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es region in the south of France; it a quite auspicious for this specie’s overwintering as Greylag geese<\/a><\/strong> for other ducks such as the European wigeons<\/a><\/strong> and teals<\/a><\/strong>. It is very well protected by sign posts to prevent non compliant people to get close in order to take pictures. Unfortunately, some disregard them and create havoc which gets the birds to settle as far from humans and their cars as possible when they fly in for the night. It is such a privilege to enjoy this a spot in our area.
\nAt last after 3 attempts, this one was successful as the birds flew past and over our heads before landing for the night:<\/p>\n

Grues cendr\u00e9es<\/strong> – Hautes Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, ce 4 janvier 2015 <\/em><\/p>\n

Bon nombre de grues hivernent l’hiver sur ce plan d’eau de\u00a0 220 ha d’une grande beaut\u00e9; on y voit des Oies cendr\u00e9es<\/a><\/strong> ainsi que divers canards hivernants dont <\/em>des Canards siffleurs<\/a> <\/strong>et <\/em>des Sarcelles d’hiver<\/a><\/strong> qu’on y bague; il est interdit \u00e0 la promenade et les berges tr\u00e8s d\u00e9gag\u00e9es favorisent la tranquillit\u00e9 des oiseaux et une vue d\u00e9gag\u00e9e pour qu’ils puissent voir les pr\u00e9dateurs arriver de loin. <\/em>Par contre il faut oublier la proximit\u00e9 pour les photographes et heureusement… pour la tranquillit\u00e9 des oiseaux mais c’est un r\u00e9el privil\u00e8ge d’avoir ce site dans notre r\u00e9gion.
\nEnfin un jour de chance: nous sommes arriv\u00e9s assez t\u00f4t et au lieu d’aller se poser \u00e0 dache, \u00e0 l’abri des humains et de leurs voitures, ces grands oiseaux ont tourn\u00e9 devant nous:<\/em><\/p>\n
