On my recent 2 day hiking trip to the breathtaking Plateau of Fuorcla da Rims (Google Maps<\/a>) near Scuol in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland, I was very lucky in coming across a chamois and being able to focus my video camera on it in time.<\/p>\n

To my pleasant surprise, a second chamois, to me not known to be present, enters the frame towards the end of the recording.<\/p>\n

I always wonder where these animals get their strength from, feeding only on sparse vegetation. It is very impressive with what speed they charge the steep terrain.<\/p>\n

The chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) is a species of goat-antelope native to mountains in Europe, including the European Alps, the Pyrenees, the Carpathians, the Tatra Mountains, the Balkans, parts of Turkey, the Caucasus, and the Apennines.<\/p>\n
