The Southern Lights<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n

Yesterday morning I noticed a news report of a significant solar flare event which was expected to give us a good Aurora display. Well last night was completely clouded in, but tonight Iris & I went up onto Observation Rock and the above photo is a composite of 10 frames. Exposure 2 seconds. Aperture 3.5. ISO 4000,. We were getting a quite pronounced “searchlight” effect, but not so much of the waving curtains.<\/p>\n

Aurora are common enough down this far south, especially a southern horizon “Glow”. Although as our home faces North, and has quite a hill behind it we seldom see them.
