For starters, the great black bear wanders this area, and every year, there is an increase in sightings closer to the suburbs. Where there are bears, there are also beautiful doe-eyed deer. But these rabbits must keep a lookout because these same areas are home to both red and gray foxes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beavers and bobcats are two mammals you\u2019ll want to stay away from. While beavers are more friendly and found near the rivers, bobcats can sometimes be mistaken for domesticated animals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Away with the Birds<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those who love to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/focusingonwildlife.com\/news\/endangered-seabirds-return-to-pacific-island-after-century-long-absence\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">birdwatch<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they\u2019ll be happy when visiting Connecticut. Here are a few species you may run into.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ospreys nest near the waterways and can be seen nosediving to get fish.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bald Eagle is an incredible sight and is highly protected by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifaw.org\/journal\/world-most-endangered-animals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conservancy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Red-Tailed Hawk is a little less friendly and a scary yet powerful sight.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beautiful Cardinals and Red-Robins can be spotted in suburban areas and forests.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spending time in conservation lands is one of the best ways to see these flying fellas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What About Amphibians?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While it may be a surprise, Connecticut has an array ot wetlands that support reptile and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldwildlife.org\/species\/directory?direction=desc&amp;sort=extinction_status\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amphibian<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> life. Turtles are some of the most prevalent. Eastern box turtles have a very ornate dome-like shell while snapping turtles are known for snapping. Snapping turtles tend to hang out in the marshes and ponds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ll also see some friendly American Bullfrogs who can be heard singing and croaking in the summer. And while less common, salamanders do make their way to Connecticut in early spring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marine and Aquatic Life<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The beautiful coast of Connecticut has much to offer. The Long Island Sound boasts striped bass, blue crabs, whales, seals, and much more.
