{"id":22666,"date":"2012-10-11T04:00:40","date_gmt":"2012-10-11T02:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/focusingonwildlife.com\/news\/?p=22666"},"modified":"2019-12-22T22:31:57","modified_gmt":"2019-12-22T09:31:57","slug":"mantanani-scops-owls-of-palawan-philippines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusingonwildlife.com\/news\/mantanani-scops-owls-of-palawan-philippines\/","title":{"rendered":"Mantanani Scops-Owls of Palawan, Philippines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I and Rey Sta Ana, fellow co-founder of Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines (WBPP), have almost given up the opportunity to photograph this species as the first sighting made our island guide so excited he forgot the exact place where he saw it, and when he brought us there he was in a quandary in what tree and branch did he first see it. His uncertainty and movements would later make the bird fly out to our utmost frustration&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But when our companion Rommel M. Desmond Allen later confirmed both are adults in different morphs.<\/p>\n<p>MANTANANI SCOPS-OWL is listed by Birdlife International as Near Threatened because there are some indications that its very small range is occupied by a moderately small, fragmented population which is undergoing a continuing decline owing to forest loss and degradation.
