Here’s the Crimson Sunbird that I was fortunate enough to photograph with the yellow rump that is seldom caught by camera. That rump gave its other name, “Yellow-backed sunbird.” In this photo, the red, black, blue and yellow colored-feathers showed up, but the indigo that is usually manifested in the forehead and chin-throat areas didn’t show up as the sun\/light wasn’t able to shine on them. Well, sometimes we can’t have them all.<\/p>\n

In the Philippines, the Crimson Sunbird can only be found in the islands of Negros, Bohol and Cebu. Outside of the country, the bird can also be found in tropical southern Asia from India to Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Thanks to Jac Señagan who accompanied me there and who drove Dr. Ely “Manong Popoy” Alcala’s pick-up truck that I borrowed to clim mountain where the crater turned two lakes is situated… and to Rico Mier who gave us a boat ride round the serene Balinsasayao lake.<\/p>\n
