La cabeza, el cuello y la parte superior del pecho de color negro. Pone dos huevos ovoidales, ocres oscuros o verde oliv\u00e1ceos con pintas y manchas oscuras pardas y grises.<\/p>\n<p>Habita costas marinas, riberas de arroyos, r\u00edos, lagunas, y zonas h\u00famedas en estepas.En la Argentina se lo encuentra en el interior y en las costas de Chubut, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Islas Malvinas y suele llegar hasta Buenos Aires durante el
