Bear Breaks into California Classroom in Search of Snacks!

A California school teacher returned to her classroom to find an unexpected visitor—a rummaging for food.

The bear had broken into the classroom at Peak to Peak Charter School in Pine Mountain Club, a small town located about 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

The bear’s target? Granola bars stored in the classroom’s emergency earthquake kits.

The teacher, Elaine Salmon, had stepped out to the school office to print some paperwork.

Upon returning, she was startled to see the bear trapped inside her classroom.

The bear had managed to enter the room but was struggling to find its way out.

Elaine’s husband, Ian Sawrey, who specializes in handling bear encounters in the rural area, safely removed the animal.

Sawrey explained that bear encounters have become increasingly common in the region, with even breaking into homes in search of food.

He highlighted that residents have been taking various measures to protect themselves, such as setting up bear patrols, and installing dangerous and cruel deterrents like electrified windows and nail-filled mats.
