Ruby-throated hummingbirds, not Black-chinned guys. Kind of happy these little friends decided to show up and pose for some photos. The males were a bit obnoxious and rather mean to each other, wrestling on the ground and knocking each other off branches. Feisty guys. Ah hah!! I got one to land on my finger, which […]

Hill Country Skies
Some pretty fancy clouds this year in the Texas Hill Country. These are all from the last few months. I remember last year during the field season the sky was pretty boring, a really dry year with kind of lame skies. Not so this time around-lots of storms and rain, good stuff! Almost got monsoon-y […]
Zone-tailed Hawks!

If you’re not really sure what you’re looking at, you might mistake these guys for a Turkey Vulture at first glance. They’ve […]

Here’s some in-your-face photos of the abundant walking sticks, katydids and monster grasshoppers that fly into my face on a daily basis. I don’t think I’ll ever look at walking sticks the same after taking this photo. The […]
Tarantula. Scorpion.
There are no time for words, my friends. No time! This tarantula is the second cutest one I’ve seen, I think. Yeah, second cutest. It’s a toss up though. They are all over the place at the field sites in Austin. All over. The bark scorpions are pretty much all around also, I kinda like […]
