How do you like your Bee-eater?
Which Bee-eater do you prefer? – compilation made by Martijn Verdoes

On the eve of our Dutch Knights Champions of the Flyway adventure I’m in the train to Amsterdam. I’ll be staying at Marc’s place for the final preparations and a tiny bit of sleep before heading to the airport. Early morning we’ll be meeting Gert and taking off to Israel, where the event and the 24-hour bird race will take place. The goal: raising awareness and funding to STOP THE ILLEGAL SLAUGHTER OF MIGRATING BIRDS!

Stop the illegal killing of migrating birds in Cyprus and DONATE HERE!

Support the Dutch Knights and donate against the killing of birds!

Every year millions of birds migrating back to their breeding grounds are illegaly shot, netted or trapped on lime sticks and will never return to maintain their precious populations. This year the donations for Champions of the Flyway will be used to fund a BirdLife supported migratory bird conservation program on Cyprus. Last year a sickening 2.5 million birds were killed on Cyprus alone! THIS HAS TO STOP!

If we want to welcome our beautiful migratory birds every spring, we need to take a stand and STOP THE KILLING. Support Champions of the Flyway, BirdLife Cyprus and the Dutch Knights!

Follow us during the preparations and the trilling 24-hour bird race on our Dutch Knights Facebook Page or follow us on Twitter. Every bird counts!

So far, we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our readers over the past eight weeks, already raising over £3,500! However, there’s still work to be done — we’d love to add to this significantly and any donations would be hugely appreciated by the team. Your contributions will make a difference!

On behalf of the Dutch Knights,

Martijn Verdoes
