Miles and Miles of flat barren cracked land….No trees, no mountains, no streams, just barren emptiness…Imagine that, and you would have imagined paradise.
Don’t agree with me, do you?
‘The Little Rann of Kutch’: This barren desolate land is the place to be for bird enthusiasts every winter. I have been visiting and re-visiting this place for my photography tours multiple times every winter and every single time, it just gets tougher and tougher to come back.
Located in the western state of Gujarat, the Little Rann of Kutch (LRK) is home to the asiatic wild ass and many tourists visit this place to get a chance to click these. The wild ass are a joy to click because of the numerous opportunities that they provide.
There is another reason why people come to this barren land and they come in huge numbers. It is the wintering Migrants that come in from all over Europe and Siberia to spend their winters in Kutch.
The sparse scrub habitat adjoining the caked land proves perfect for raptors in winters. The multitude of birds seen in Kutch during the winters is a treat for every bird photographer.
I present a few of my images here in a three part series, hoping that they will convince every birder to pay visit to this magical land.
