The Picaflor Cordillerano (Oreotrochilus leucopleurus) is one of the six species of hummingbirds of Chile and the most colorful of them all.
Is not easy to find and even harder to photograph. To achieve my purpose I needed to explore  various environments where the birds might be nesting, perhaps on the roof of a small cavern (not too dark), a hole in the rocks or a little, overhanging rock.
After I found the place – and careful not to disturb them – I perched myself about 15 meters away and carefully placed a colorful flower . Then I prepared myself to do what all photographers of birds know how to do best… wait.
