Become a “Wildlife Champion” and actively defend the “Biodiversity of Planet Earth”

Earth is most likely experiencing its sixth mass extinction. The planet has been through at least five such catastrophes before, but this is the first one in human history — and the first one with human fingerprints. 58 percent of Earth’s vertebrate animals have been lost since 1970.

Habitat loss and wildlife crime are the main causes. With a value of between $7 billion and $23 billion each year, illegal wildlife trafficking is the fourth most lucrative global crime after drugs, humans and arms. Trophy hunting is estimated to create around $200 million in annual revenue. Only 3% of the fees paid for the hunts reach local communities.

Less than 1% of the population in the Western Hemisphere actively supports wildlife conservation. In Asia and South America the awareness of the crisis facing wildlife is even lower. Awareness can easily be raised by sharing articles on social media including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.
