USFWS proposes new rules for recovery of Canada lynx



The is moving forward with conservation by taking two steps.

The Service is proposing to revise the current habitat designation for the species.

The new habitat designation would cover more than 19,000 square miles in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Washington and Wyoming.

In addition, collaboration between the Service and state, Tribal and federal partners resulted in a newly proposed (Lynx canadensis) recovery plan addressing threats like climate change.

The proposed rule will be published in the Federal Register on Nov. 29.

The Service will review public comments by Jan. 28.
