In the coastal town of Tela, a group of engineers and divers have built their own specialised spears and transformed lionfish hunting into community hunting derbies, removing hundreds of fish from the reef.
As restaurants begin putting lionfish on the menu, this grassroots effort thinks that one of the best ways to fight an invasive species might be to eat it.
