As many of my regular viewers know I love Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in Montana. Just by being there I can feel my blood pressure drop, a sense of peace flows through my body and my mind (and camera) focuses on the wonders and intricacies of nature.
This photo was taken at 5 am as a storm was clearing out of the Centennial Valley and a few clouds still hung over the Centennial Mountains. Mornings are cool in the valley but the days warmed up while I was there earlier this month.
The beauty of Red Rock Lakes NWR never fails to inspire or delight me.

Mia McPherson is a nature lover, wildlife watcher and an avian photographer. Mia first become serious about bird photography when she moved to Florida in 2004. Her recent move to the Salt Lake area of Utah was a great opportunity to continue observing their behavior and photographing them. With so many birds species there easily accessible it wasn’t long before she was hooked. By learning more about each species, she can anticipate their behaviour and create opportunities to obtain ever better images of those species.
