Horned Grebe – Podiceps auritus, are a winter visitor to my area in southeastern New England. We find them along the shore actively feeding. Horned Grebes breed mainly in Canada and Alaska. In the summer, I saw them around Churchill, Manitoba. They are extremely colorful in the summer with a black head and Brown puffy year like Tufts along the side of its face, along with a deep red neck, scoured eyes and a small straight black bill. In the winter, they are mainly black, gray and white with out the beautiful colors of the summertime. I observed and photographed a Horned Grebe, who spent an enormous amount of time and energy trying to eat a flounder fry. The bird caught the flounder fry, and the waters of Provincetown harbor just off of Macmillan’s pier, which may it easy to photograph the activity
