Dog Day Afternoon…

Dog Day Afternoon…

Dog Day Afternoon…

From the moment my light aircraft touched down in the I could feel it was going to be a hot one. The temperature approached the 100 degree mark and the wind was still. And yet the news that greeted me was fantastic. A pack of sixteen dogs had just entered the area, the first African sighting here for over a year and a half.

Subsequent information gained from identifying the alpha male showed that this was a pack that had moved huge distances around the delta to arrive here. With their species on the brink of extinction, any push into new territory can only be greeted with great enthusiasm. We were fortunate enough to spend the rest of that hot afternoon hanging out with the pack.
