On Friday morning the skies were blue and the day started with a brilliant sunrise in our tiny alpine village.
Although the snow had not completely melted there were signs and sounds of spring all around.
I decided to go down to the Rhine Delta just across the border in Austria. Unfortunately on the way down the hill I realised that the lake was shrouded in what’s locally known as “hochnebel” or plain old fog.
A blanket of approx 20 metres of thick fog completely covered the delta but the sun was trying to come through.
Perfect conditions for capturing some ethereal style images.

Ken, a scientist by training held various management positions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries during his professional career, enabling him to travel extensively throughout Europe, the Americas, North Africa, Asia and Japan. Ken has always been a keen photographer and bought his first telephoto lens 10 years ago. This was the beginning of his interest in bird photography. Since then he has also become an active supporter of birding and wildlife conservation.
