Zoos are inherently cruel and rob nonhuman animals of what should be their fundamental right to bodily autonomy.
But some zoos are worse than others.
The Kansas City Zoo is one of those zoos.
It was recently rated the second-worst zoo for elephants in North America by In Defense of Animals.
Not only do these elephants have disturbingly tiny enclosures, but they are also being forced to breed!
