Brown pelicans in Florida are increasingly becoming entangled in fishing lines and fishhooks, and that is now their leading cause of death in the state.
These iconic birds perch and hunt along the same piers that fishermen use.
Often, when they get tangled in fishing lines, the fishermen will cut the lines instead of freeing the birds.
They can then become so tangled in the line that they can’t escape.
Please sign this petition to urge Florida authorities to protect brown pelicans from fishing gear!

What you can do
Support ‘Fighting for Wildlife’ by donating as little as $1 – It only takes a minute. Thank you.

Fighting for Wildlife supports approved wildlife conservation organizations, which spend at least 80 percent of the money they raise on actual fieldwork, rather than administration and fundraising. When making a donation you can designate for which type of initiative it should be used – wildlife, oceans, forests or climate.
