Our access to clean air and water is seriously under threat.
The Environmental Protection Agency is considering rolling back the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment finding, one of our bedrock environmental protection policies.
The finding determined that carbon dioxide and certain greenhouse gases pose a threat to public health — and is the reason we have air and water protections in the first place.
For the past 16 years, the Greenhouse Gas Endangerment finding has served as the basis for the government’s authority to regulate emissions from cars, aircraft, power plants, and other industries. There is widespread scientific data supporting the finding, and evidence of the harmful effects of greenhouse gases continues to grow.
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences cites several studies which have found that high concentrations or close proximity to greenhouse gas emissions cause health effects including reduced lung function, increased asthma, cardiac problems, and cancer.

Reversing this finding will only serve the interests of the nation’s top polluters, leaving communities to grapple with adverse health effects and reduced quality of life. It will reverse decades of progress on air quality, stall efforts to combat the climate crisis, and put fragile landscapes like the California desert at risk.
We only have a short time to make our voices heard.
