Copper Pheasant Syrmaticus soemmerringii



The Copper Pheasant is a very beautiful but shy bird endemic to Japan. It occupies a very different habitat to the Green Pheasant, being only found in hilly or mountainous forests with lots of leaf litter or undergrowth. There are several distinct subspecies differing slightly in appearance and separated by range.
