Hooded Crane Grus monacha

A small but beautiful crane species, the Hooded Crane has only a small population that is tightly range-restricted. Most of the population breeds in eastern Russia and then winters in a very small location in Japan. Recently breeding populations have been found in Mongolia and China, and the species is also wintering again in South Korea and China, although only in small numbers.
