European Greenfinch VS Sparrowhawk

European Greenfinch VS Sparrowhawk

Passeriformes – Fringillidae – For a few days I have observed, from the corner of my eye a fairly large bird flying swiftly over and around my tent and above the feeding table making the passerine birds quite nervous. Until today I hadn’t been able to see what it was, but this morning, it settled very briefly on the feeder much to my surprise and I was then able to determine that it was the European Sparrowhawk. There was a wind of panic inthe bird ranks naturally, and they observed the environment carefully before getting back to feed!

This female has been attacked, most probably by this Sparrowhawk, but she escaped safely and will go on hassling the other passerine birds!
