Genetta genetta –
I went to photograph quite a different subject knowing that in this low mountain area Genets are quite common, I was hoping to see one but without really believing it. This one was having a nap in a tree hollow so must have had a meal not long ago. The big eyes are a give-away: this species is usually nocturnal. It was brought to Europe by the Saracens during the 8th century and is sill today the only viverrid on this continent. Since it not much monitored not much is know about it.
Genette commune
Clic!…. Je suis repérée!
It has heard the camera!
Elle me localise:
It manages to localise where the sound comes from:
Elle ne me voit pas et…
It has not seen me and…
…commence à se faire une courte toilette:
…starts to preen:
Aïe…. Va-t-elle déjà me quitter?
Will it leave me so soon?
Soon a follow up on this gorgeous feline!
